Tutor (Casual) - Cambridge Online Tutors

Employer Name: Cambridge Online Tutors
Details: Do you want a flexible job that can be done in the comfort of your own home?Cambridge Online Tutors are recruiting tutors to join our dedicated team. We are a refreshing company set up by ex-students and you can start working with us today. We have two tutoring opportunities available to new applicants:For the first opportunity, we provide a short introductory training programme, so no experience is required. Our platform allows you develop your profile, select your availability and chop and change your timetable as you see fit. Lessons are booked on an ad hoc basis. This is a great opportunity for students looking for a casual job to fit around busy schedules. All we ask for is a minimum availability for 3 hours of tutoring each week. Any subject is helpful that caters for Key Stages 1 - 5. We also run TEFL classes as well as language classes for those with IELTS certification or equivalent who would like to tutor people trying to learn a new language. For the second opportunity, we are partnered with several virtual/hybrid/online schools. These schools require online tutors to support their student base through the Cambridge International Curricula (in some cases, the IB). Course content is provided and focuses primarily on GCSE, IGCSE and AS/A-Levels, so creation of content is not part of the role. The hours are more certain but the role is still flexible. You can choose to take on as many tutor groups as you are comfortable with. Each tutor group equates to roughly 5 hours contact time each week across on average, 12 week terms, meaning a guaranteed 60 hours of tuition, at £20 an hour. There are 3 * 12 week terms across an Academic year. Where this position is slightly less flexible is that we require a commitment to one full Academic year. (180 hours over the course of a year). When these hours are conducted, remains up to you. A perfect opportunity to gain experience and support your life as a student! For opportunity 1, we are looking for excellent qualifications in the subjects you would like to tutor in. Again, you have complete flexibility in the subjects you choose; whether you would like to have a go at teaching key stage 1 or key stage 5, you can readily change these to suit your skills.Tutoring is conducted over Zoom, for which we provide additional integrated classroom functionality. We provide an array of lesson plans across all key stages as well as comprehensive guides and templates for lesson plan creation. Early on in your experience, planning your first few lessons may take some time but before you know it, you will be rattling them off in no time at all.Compensation is performance related, starting at £16 an hour and reaching up to £25 an hour. Some parents/tutees request transcripts of their lessons, so we also provide lateral opportunities for strong performers with fast tracking applications for our sister company, TauRho Transcribes (and if you are bilingual or have near native capability in another language, translation work too). All in all, an array of opportunities for vacation work while you complete your degree course. 😊For opportunity 2, we require excellent qualifications in the subjects you would like to tutor in as well as past tutoring experience; the more, the better. For information on the subjects we are most in need of tutors for, please see the accompanying document: ‘COT – Academic Courses 2023’If you are interested in either opportunity, please send over your CV and an email with a 200-300 word introduction on why you would like to join the team to 'teach@cambridgeonlinetutors.co.uk'. Please note that if you are successful you will be paid on a freelance basis. University of Glasgow students who are successful in applying for a role with Cambridge Tutors will only be offered opportunities with schools that provide fully paid training. In accordance with new guidance from the Department of Education, applicants with an Enhanced DBS will be favoured over a basic DBS check. We will also request 2 Professional or Academic References, as well as Proof of Identity, such as a Driving License or Passport Scan, plus proof of the Right To Work in the UK. Given the role is remote, we do accept international applicants however, under the correct conditions. Please include all of your past tutoring experience. Please also express in the SUBJECT, whether you are interested in Opportunity 1, Opportunity 2, or both.We hope to hear from you soon!
Salary Range: Hourly Rate
Closing Date: Wed 03 Jun 2026
